Planet Eclipse 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition Markers

Planet Eclipse is celebrating their 20th anniversary by creating a special set of their EGO and GEO markers. They’ve made 20 pairs in total and here’s how they’ll be distributed:

“There will be two or three sets that will go up for auction for collectors to bid on.

There will be two or three sets that will be donated to charities.

There will be two or three that will be sold via the Planet Eclipse web site.

One Set is reserved for a very special New Year’s competition.

The remaining pairs will end up in the hands of people that have worked with us and been by Planet Eclipse’s side and in the trenches since the very beginning.”

The Bob Gurnsey Paintball Scholarships

A while back on Pbnation (like 6 years ago) there was a thread on paintball scholarships and whether or not they existed. And while it was obvious then that getting funding to play paintball in college was a fairly rare thing, it seems that (at least in the US) things are changing and more and more paintball scholarships are becoming available.

One such scholarship now available is being “awarded in tribute to Bob Gurnsey, creator of the paintball sport, to encourage higher education of today’s youth in paintball”. Check out the link below for more info. Gotta love the silhouette of a grad sporting a paintball marker. Dangerous!

We Gonna Cap Them Mofos!

Seems like up here in Canada people like to do things a little differently than their neighbours south of the border (like spelling “neighbour” with a “u”). You can now add drive-by weapon of choice to the list of things that make the two countries different. Check out this story on the CBC about a series of drive-by shootings where the weapons being used were paintball guns. They weren’t gangbangs of course. Just a couple guys painting the town red (pun intended). But it prompted someone in the comments section to question “Why is paintball even legal?”

Next thing you know they’re gonna add paintball guns to the firearms registry and start holding “Turn In Your Paintball Gun” events to try and put an end to violence in the community.

Riddle of the Day: How Do Blind People Play Paintball?

I have no friggin’ clue. But apparently they can…..somehow….because a group of blind people are suing Route 40 Paintball Park in Maryland for not letting them play. PAINtball Is Bad For Your Health

The US Department of Health and Human Services mentioned some paintball-related stats in an article posted on their site last week called Putting The Pain In Paintball.

Apparently, “Sixty percent of visits to the emergency department for air and paintball gun injuries were for children and adolescents seventeen and younger. Of that group, of the total, more than 25 percent were for children age 10 to 14”.
