Planet Eclipse 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition Markers
December 16th, 2011
Planet Eclipse is celebrating their 20th anniversary by creating a special set of their EGO and GEO markers. They’ve made 20 pairs in total and here’s how they’ll be distributed:
“There will be two or three sets that will go up for auction for collectors to bid on.
There will be two or three sets that will be donated to charities.
There will be two or three that will be sold via the Planet Eclipse web site.
One Set is reserved for a very special New Year’s competition.
The remaining pairs will end up in the hands of people that have worked with us and been by Planet Eclipse’s side and in the trenches since the very beginning.”

The Bob Gurnsey Paintball Scholarships
December 16th, 2011A while back on Pbnation (like 6 years ago) there was a thread on paintball scholarships and whether or not they existed. And while it was obvious then that getting funding to play paintball in college was a fairly rare thing, it seems that (at least in the US) things are changing and more and more paintball scholarships are becoming available.
One such scholarship now available is being “awarded in tribute to Bob Gurnsey, creator of the paintball sport, to encourage higher education of today’s youth in paintball”. Check out the link below for more info. Gotta love the silhouette of a grad sporting a paintball marker. Dangerous!

We Gonna Cap Them Mofos!
December 15th, 2011Seems like up here in Canada people like to do things a little differently than their neighbours south of the border (like spelling “neighbour” with a “u”). You can now add drive-by weapon of choice to the list of things that make the two countries different. Check out this story on the CBC about a series of drive-by shootings where the weapons being used were paintball guns. They weren’t gangbangs of course. Just a couple guys painting the town red (pun intended). But it prompted someone in the comments section to question “Why is paintball even legal?”
Next thing you know they’re gonna add paintball guns to the firearms registry and start holding “Turn In Your Paintball Gun” events to try and put an end to violence in the community.

Paintball Sniper: The Art Of War!
To be a good paintball sniper you need certain personality traits, the right physical skills, specialized equipment (including a paintball sniper gun), and the proper know-how.

A successful sniper has mastered certain personality traits, including patience, self-confidence, and independence. Patience is crucial because as a sniper, you must wait for the best shot to present itself to you. Physical Skills
Of course, any good sniper must be a good shot. Practice long-distance shooting as much as you can, as this skill is the paintball sniper’s main advantage. You will also need to be able to accurately follow a target with your gun and fire as soon as the target stops.
Aside from shooting ability, there are a number of other physical skills that can assist you as a paintball sniper. The ability to stay alert in a crouched or sitting position for a long period of time is essential. Flexibility is key, so do some flexibility exercises, such as basic stretching or yoga, before each game.
Equipment
The right equipment is very important for a sniper. If you don’t have the right marker, scope, or camouflage outfit, you might as well not even bother. The industry standard for markers restricts the speed of paintballs exiting the barrel at 300 feet per second, which many guns are quite similar to each other.
